How to choose PVC windows
Choosing PVC windows means accounting for project starting state, final state and all factors that affect configuration.
By project type
- Residential, full renovation. Sills, insulation, positioning and sealing matter. A good PVC window loses performance with sloppy install.
- New builds, NZEB, passive house. Usually we recommend triple-glazed PVC joinery with professional install focused on sealing continuity and thermal-bridge reduction.
- Developers, multi-window projects. Predictability is key: repeatable config, consistent install logic. Often PVC-aluminium windows for extra resistance.
By design
- Frame-to-glazing ratio.
- Profile colour and texture.
- Glass type (clear, frosted, decorative).
- Hardware and opening mode. Made-to-order PVC windows suit projects with architect/designer control. Architects often choose wood-aluminium.
By location
- Wind and rain. Sealing and rigidity matter — the gap between ok and premium shows over time.
- Traffic and noise. Glass packages focused on acoustic insulation. In the city, real comfort = silence, not just temperature.
- Security. Ground-floor or easily-accessed PVC windows → put security on the list from start: RC2, RC3, safety glass and correct hardware.
