When to choose a double exterior door
A double exterior door isn't just a larger version of a single door. It makes sense in projects where the opening needs to be more generous and where the façade composition calls for a more balanced entrance.
- when the opening exceeds roughly 1,400 mm wide
- when the façade is symmetric and a single door would look too small
- when you want easier access for furniture, equipment or heavier traffic
- when the project requires two functional leaves or one active plus one inactive leaf
In daily use, one leaf is usually active and the other remains closed, unlocked only when needed. You keep the comfort of a normal door but gain the wide opening exactly when needed.
If the opening doesn't need two leaves but you still want maximum architectural impact from a single element, an alternative is pivot exterior doors with central-axis opening and a different visual effect.
