Two-layer engineered parquet

Two-layer engineered parquet

Two-layer engineered parquet is a premium choice when you want good thermal efficiency and a very natural look. The engineered construction is stable and conducts heat well — often used in underfloor heating projects. The main advantage is design versatility thanks to finish and laying-pattern variety, like Chevron and Herringbone. The level of personalisation is a real plus, especially where shade and texture complete the rest of the finishes.

The Kulttur offer includes two-layer parquet in various styles, 1-strip boards, finishes and rigorous resistance standards — essential for multiple sandings.

Installation changes everything

Installation changes everything

Visual rhythm, budget and material waste

The laying pattern changes both the room's final feel and the install cost. **Classic (straight)** means faster installation, lower waste, a clean and calm look. **Herringbone** brings a strong visual effect but the install is more complex and waste higher. **Chevron** is the most premium — requires precise alignment, with more waste and a higher cost.

How to choose engineered parquet

How to choose engineered parquet

Choice guide — from context to the right type

The right engineered parquet starts from the project context and the desired parquet type. In short: for large, premium projects you pick stability — usually three-layer; for underfloor heating you pick thermal efficiency and a correct system; for design you pick the right laying pattern (Classic, Herringbone or Chevron) with a realistic install budget.

Large projects (open-space, continuous surfaces, medium-heavy traffic, new builds)

Bet on stability

Go with **three-layer engineered parquet** for better stability and more predictable behaviour over time, especially under temperature and humidity variations. The 3-layer cross-grain construction reduces internal tensions and performs well on generous surfaces.

Thermal efficiency above all

Choose an engineered parquet collection that is **underfloor-heating compatible** and prioritise heat transfer through a correct full system — parquet + installation + substrate. As a rule of thumb, **avoid thick insulation under the parquet** (it blocks heat), and keep the total thermal resistance below **0.15 m²K/W**.

< 0.15 m²K/W (complete system)

Long-term wear resistance

Look for **usual thicknesses of 12–14 mm** and a construction with a **substantial wear layer** — this matters for resistance and later reconditioning. In such projects the wear layer must allow multiple sandings and the finish should be chosen for traffic.

Two-layer — if the screed is done right

**Two-layer engineered parquet** is very good when you have a **correctly-made screed**, good humidity control and more fragmented surfaces (rooms, not a huge open-space). You keep the premium look and the noble wood top layer without the extra cost of a three-layer build.

When design is the priority

**Herringbone and Chevron** are excellent for premium projects but come with **higher installation cost** and **greater material waste** from the start. Worth it when design is a priority — and when the boards are factory-designed for that pattern; standard-board adaptations produce visible joints and extra consumption.

Three-layer engineered parquet

Three-layer engineered parquet

Three-layer engineered parquet, made **100% from natural wood**, is the choice when the project calls for stability and comfort. Designed for large surfaces, open-plan spaces and situations where you want predictable behaviour under temperature and humidity variations. In many projects it's also a good choice for underfloor heating, precisely because of the layered build. Short version: the parquet you pick for the long term.

We offer varied design options, including **1-strip or 3-strip** boards and specific laying patterns; thanks to our joint system, the parquet can be installed fast and used immediately.

Hywood multi-layer parquet

Hywood multi-layer parquet

Hywood is a multi-layer parquet technology from the TerHurne collection. A fit when you want a premium look and a modern solution with carefully curated finishes. This category also includes standout models — Herringbone collections.

Underfloor-heating parquet

Underfloor-heating parquet

Reach the comfort you want with engineered parquet for underfloor heating. At Kulttur we understand the importance of efficient thermal performance — we work with parquet specifically designed for underfloor heating systems, both water-based and electric. Thanks to its stable construction, engineered parquet conducts heat excellently and provides dimensional stability through layered boards.

Come talk to one of our consultants to make sure you pick the best engineered parquet option (two- or three-layer) installed on an optimally prepared surface.

Herringbone parquet

Herringbone parquet

Herringbone parquet is the classic choice in premium projects. Has a European, elegant air. Looks great in hallways, living rooms and spaces where you want to lift the architecture without crowding it.

Chevron parquet

Chevron parquet

Chevron parquet is more graphic. A repeating V, with lines that lead the eye forward. Very fitting in contemporary arrangements and showrooms.

Frequently asked questions about engineered parquet

Engineered parquet has multiple layers with a noble wood top layer, while solid parquet is a single piece. Engineered parquet is often chosen for better stability and easier compatibility with underfloor heating.

On a dry and perfectly flat substrate. In premium projects, gluing is frequently preferred for stability, and the tongue and groove system ensures precise jointing.

Yes. We help you correctly choose the collection, finish and complete system, especially for underfloor heating, large spaces or Herringbone/Chevron installation.

With finish-appropriate products and as little water as possible. Regular cleaning and prevention beat quick fixes, and reconditioning is planned based on traffic levels.

Engineered parquet (two- or three-layer) with reduced thickness and low thermal resistance is ideal for underfloor heating. At Kulttur we have a dedicated selection of parquet compatible with underfloor heating, both electric and water-based.
