Filomuro doors with concealed frame

Filomuro doors are the solution for those who want discrete doors, perfectly integrated into the wall — the so-called hidden or invisible doors. Unlike a classic door, a filomuro door has a concealed frame, no visible casings, and can be finished in the same colour as the wall or in a controlled contrast. At Kulttur, we work with made-to-order filomuro doors for premium homes, modern apartments, offices, hotels and commercial spaces where minimalist design and correct technical execution are equally important.

Filomuro door with concealed frame — leaf flush with the wall

What is a filomuro door?

A filomuro door is an interior door with a concealed frame whose aluminium rails are installed flush with the wall and then covered with plaster, filler and paint or cladding. Filomuro systems can be integrated in both masonry and plasterboard walls, with installation details adapted to each wall type.

The result is a 'concealed-frame door' without visible casings or trim, recognisable only by the thin line of its contour. Though sometimes called 'frameless doors', the frame of a filomuro door exists — just hidden in the masonry or plasterboard. Choose between filomuro doors with wood finish, painted finish (white, RAL colours, dark tones), unfinished doors prepared for on-site finishing, or doors hidden in decorative panels.

Why choose filomuro doors?

Doors without visible frame

Compared to a standard door, a filomuro door removes the frame and visible casings — the door no longer stands proud and the wall remains continuous, creating the effect of a door hidden in the wall. Result: less dust on edges, more freedom placing furniture and a frameless look.

Minimalist design — concealed doors

Filomuro doors are perfect for clean walls and simple lines, without classic frames and casings. The effect works great in premium apartments and homes, as well as dressing rooms, utility rooms or storage spaces you want to keep visually discrete. The door keeps its function but visually dissolves into the wall.

Made-to-order filomuro

Filomuro doors are almost exclusively made to order. Choose standard or very tall dimensions, opening direction, colours (white, RAL, dark tones), wallpaper- or veneer-ready variants, plus premium hardware with concealed hinges and magnetic lock. You don't adapt the project to the door — we adapt the door to the project.

Advantages and disadvantages of concealed-frame doors

Filomuro doors bring clear advantages for premium projects: no visible casings or trim, the walls stay clean and simple; the aluminium frame is installed before finishes, with fewer later repairs; the clean lines reduce dust-collecting edges; doors can be MDF painted, veneered or prepared for wallpaper, offering flexibility and very good sealing with improved acoustic and thermal comfort. They are ideal for small spaces, hallways, narrow corridors, dressing rooms and storage you want visually hidden.

On the other hand, some disadvantages to consider: a filomuro door costs more than a standard or glass door — it includes concealed aluminium frame, concealed hinges, magnetic lock and made-to-order production; installation is more technical and requires a specialist team synchronised with other finishing work; future repairs or replacement can be more difficult because the assembly is integrated into the wall. In many projects, the aesthetic and functional benefits outweigh these drawbacks, provided design and execution are handled correctly from the start.

Technical details for filomuro doors: concealed frame, installation, dimensions

Concealed aluminium frame

The concealed aluminium frame is the 'skeleton' of a filomuro door: installed in masonry or plasterboard before wall finishing, it becomes a support for filler, paint or wallpaper. Ensures long-term stability, perfect alignment with the wall and allows multiple finishes.

Recommended wall opening

For filomuro doors to work correctly, the wall opening must be prepared during construction, based on door dimensions, wall type and planned finishes. We recommend talking to a Kulttur consultant before masonry or plasterboard closing, so the opening is optimised for the filomuro door.

Professional installation

Installing a filomuro door follows these steps: first the aluminium frame is mounted, then the wall is finished flush with it, finally the leaf is hung and the concealed hinges adjusted. Product and installation warranty details are defined based on the chosen configuration and communicated before order.
